Overview:

This 40-hour course focuses on Lean and Six Sigma problem solving concepts and leadership development. This certification course will provide students with a structure problems solving approaching using the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC) model in order to improve operational activities by adding value through the elimination and minimization of waste. Upon successful completion of the 40-hour course, students will be Lean and Six Sigma Green Belt certified. Training is delivered in five 8-hour days over 5 weeks.

Target Audience: Team leaders (could be team member of a complex project)

Course Outline:

People Skills

Student will be trained on leadership development which may include:

  1. Leadership Skills
  2. Change Management
  3. Leading Teams
  4. Facilitating Effective Meetings

Process Skills

This course provides in-depth training on business process improvement utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodology throughout each phase of the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) model. The 10 step model includes:

  1. Voice of the Customer
  2. Goal Setting and Project Alignment
  3. Team Formation
  4. Process Overview
  5. Data Collection
  6. Establishing Baseline Metrics
  7. Identifying and Prioritizing Problems
  8. Implementing Optimum Solutions
  9. Piloting and Control Plans

 

Training for Credit:

Students who successfully complete the training course will be eligible to receive 2.5 college credit(s).

Assessment:

A post-training assessment will be administered to measure student’s knowledge and retention of training material. Upon successful completion of the 40-hour training course, student will be Lean and Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
